Interactive history map

A website where you can travel the globe and a timeline at once — pick a place and a year, and see what was actually happening there.

The problem

History is usually taught one thread at a time — one country, one century. I want something that shows what was happening everywhere at once, so you can see how disconnected events actually line up in time.

The plan

Start flat: a 2D map with a timeline scrubber and a curated set of historical events pinned to place and date. If that works, layer in a proper 3D globe.
